The strength of a diverse community being brought together. May suggest a celebration, festival, anniversary, wedding, baby shower, or other joyous gathering.
The card at the upper right of the circle represents the metamorphosis of the spiritual situation, and how your knowledge will evolve. Sagittarius: Boundless optimism and good humor. How is everyone?
Dear A, Mercury -- the Messenger God in mythology and the ruler of transportation and communication turns retrograde in Aquarius on January 11. This is the first of the four Mercury retrogrades happening in 2009 and lasts till January 31 or February 1 (depending upon your time zone), when he halts and begins his return to direct motion through the zodiac Mercury is the planet that rules all forms of communication and any time a planet turns retrograde it is time to review. So, when Mercury turns around and goes back through territory it's already traversed, it is time for you, too, to travel back. Don't try to institute plans for the future. Instead see if you can lay the groundwork to provide a secure foundation. Mercury's current placement in Aquarius makes this a wonderful time to break away from old habits and ideas. Mercury will move back into Capricorn on January 21 in its retrograde motion creating disruptions or breakdowns in communications and administrative details. Since this sign also signifies ambitions, it might see us trying to push through own agendas and gain status or rise in life. Jupiter, the Sun, and Mars will also all cross Mercury as he moves along his backwards path, and those days could prove to be significant. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter on January 19 -- this might be a time for reflections, and old friends can come back into our lives. On January 20, Inauguration Day in the United States, the Sun will conjunct Mercury in the first degrees of Aquarius. The new President is sure to have some very important messages for us on how he is going to clean up the mess left for him from the past and with Aquarius involved, he may have some new and unique ideas. Retrograde Mercury conjuncts Mars in Capricorn on January 27, and Venus will be sending them some positive energy at the same time. The Solar eclipse of January 26 formed by the Sun and Moon will definitely make us ready for some changes. So how will this Mercury retrograde period affect each one of us? It all depends on how Mercury is positioned in our natal charts. Mercury will transit from 8 degrees Aquarius to 22 degrees Capricorn. First look at which House or Houses in your chart that Mercury will be traveling through. You will probably find that the areas in your life that these Houses cover will be put on hold, and you will probably show little progress. Next, if you have any planets that are placed within these degrees, and it is likely that you may have some changes forced upon you or you may be presented with opportunities disguised as problems.
note to self:
Christmas, like death brings out both the best and worst in people.
Dear Mr P Rogers Nelson,
Recent reports have compelled me to take plumed pen in hand and write you as one vintage '58 gemini tri-gendered, multi-instrumental funky song dog to another. The last few years have been rough, the old Dorian Gray portrait looms and there's no denying our quest to enshrine the healing power of sexuality as a positive value has fallen short of the mark. Let's face it, our days as polymorphously perverse Peterpansexuals are certainly numbered.
However, I think you should have taken that left at Albuquerque and stayed this side of the Brooklyn Bridge. I heard you are now denying the shadow that you once celebrated and integrated and transmuted into timeless pop art. Dude, you need some Chiron counselling. srsly.
You inspired all of your peers and all succedent generations with your androgynous, women-loving, prescient renaissanceman sex poz purpleness. Your legacy as a sexual freedom fighter and funky forward marcher was unassailable. You are also such a fey queeny peacock thing, not unlike a drag king, that for you to be preaching anti-gay this late in the day is fairly incomprehensible.
Granted, The New Yorker is the source and it truly is a pale shadow of its former self -- so you may be cleared of all Rasberry Bigot allegations in the end. Til then tho, in the name of all that's good in funk and art, for love's sake: put down that Watchtower, climb in the little red corvette and repeat after me:

You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? 'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops. Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you? Don't you take it awful hard 'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines Diggin' in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I'll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I've got diamonds At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history's shame I rise Up from a past that's rooted in pain I rise I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear I rise Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise I rise I rise.

Yesterday was John McCain's 72nd birthday. If elected, he'd be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," here's who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.
Huh?
Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:
* She was elected Alaska 's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1 * Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2 * She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3 * Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4 * She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5 * She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6 * How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7
This is information the American people need to see. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family.
We also asked Alaska MoveOn members what the rest of us should know about their governor. The response was striking. Here's a sample:
She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AK
She is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She's a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. —Christine B., Denali Park, AK
As an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. —Karen L., Anchorage, AK
Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AK
She's vehemently anti-choice and doesn't care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AK
I think she's far too inexperienced to be in this position. I'm all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn't done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on John McCain's part- and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he'll get our vote by putting "A Woman" in that position.—Jennifer M., Anchorage, AK
So Governor Palin is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative. She's a global warming denier who shares John McCain's commitment to Big Oil. And she's dramatically inexperienced.
In picking Sarah Palin, John McCain has made the religious right very happy. And he's made a very dangerous decision for our country.
In the next few days, many Americans will be wondering what McCain's vice-presidential choice means. Please pass this information along to your friends and family.
Thanks for all you do.

Lesbian activist Del Martin dies at 87 The Associated Press Article Launched: 08/27/2008 11:35:12 AM PDT
SAN FRANCISCO—Del Martin, a pioneering lesbian rights activist who married her lifelong partner on the first day same-sex couples could legally wed in California, has died. She was 87.
Kate Kendell, executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, says Martin died at a San Francisco hospital Wednesday morning two weeks after a broken arm exacerbated her existing health problems.
Kendell says her wife, Phyllis Lyon, was by her side.
Martin and Lyon, who in 1955 co-founded the nation's first outspoken advocacy group for lesbians, the Daughters of Bilitis, were married at San Francisco City Hall on June 16.
Mayor Gavin Newsom, who officiated the wedding, singled them out to be the first gay couple to legally exchange vows in the city, in recognition of their activism.

Andrea just came out with her bathing suit on and her pool floatie saying, "i'm ready!" :D

I know I haven't written here in 4eva. Things have been vivid.
I now have something magickal to report:
we got our dreamhouse!!: (from craigs)

Jacinto House is a 1960 Alexander, completely restored in 2005, native landscaping and automatic drip irrigation installed in 2006. Solar pool heater and domestic hot water, both with gas back-up; salt water filtration freeform pool. Huge views of Mount San Jacinto from the great room, kitchen, garden and pool as the west garden wall overlooks Victoria Park: no houses behind you, only the grassy park. Private locked gate to park. Master suite with slider from bedroom and (original) door from bathroom onto patio/garden, sunken tub. Full 2nd bath. Full wall closets in each bedroom. Fireplace, vaulted ceilings, double carport. Quiet, non through-fare street. Gardener and twice weekly pool service included in rent. 1 mile north of the heart of the village.
------------------------------------------------ Its one of these and we even have this layout:

the down required to BUY this in the 1960 brochure is $225.00 LESS than our first/deposit/pet dep. to RENT it in 2008. When built Andrea was 6 and me 2. My mom is thrilled as she had friends with similar (eichler) houses in LA back then.
So :D and whew and Go US! For a coupla mid-centery moderns such as ourselves, for the dogs, for the kids--it is perfect. Its unfurnished so Daddy will get to indulge his faggy side hunting down the right Austin Powersesque butterfly chair. All my deco and 50s stuff will have the proper venue at last.
PS tho i plan to make movies and not perform, Palm Springs is ironically virgin drag king territory. ....::rubs beard contemplatively:: and SO camp that its begging for it--I mean where else do you have Frank Sinatra Blvd meet Dean Martin Drive, Elvis' Honeymoon Hide-away, Sonny Bono International Airport and the corner of Dinah Shore and Gene Autry?
Not to mention the recently sold Liberace Mansion, complete with candlabra and white piano.
Tristan & Colten are coming soon!!
I won't be able to make it cuz I've been consensually removed to an undisclosed location, but do check out the events below and if you go, say hi for yr old Toone:

New Moon in Taurus Monday, May 5, 5:18 am PDT, 8:18 am EDT
The conjunction of the Sun and Moon in the fertile mid-spring sign of Taurus (fall in the Falklands) is a time to get back to basics and reconnect with the earth. Answers come through the senses, so feed yourself with smells, sights, sounds, touches and tastes that remind you of how pleasurable life can be on this beautiful planet. Honesty comes through the body to help you clarify your values and start gathering resources to reach your goals.
Jupiter Retrograde Friday, May 9
The planet of growth and wisdom is moving backwards in ambitious Capricorn for the next four months, signaling a period of consolidation and reorganization for long-term plans. Jupiter is called "Guru" or "Teacher" in Sanskrit, reminding you to look inward for guidance now. Check the truth of what others tell you, no matter how convincing they sound, with your own instincts. In case of conflict, trust yourself.
Mars in Leo Friday, May 9, 1:20 pm PDT, 4:20 pm EDT
Macho Mars struts into the royal sign of the Lion where personalities get bigger and behavior grows bolder. After the warrior planet's seven-month stay in watery Cancer, where tender feelings and insecurities blunted the sword of action, it's time to start roaring again. Self-importance may be inflated, so beware of pride becoming pomposity. Keeping a playful attitude captures the high creative potential of Mars in Leo without getting caught up in infantile egotism.
Full Moon in Scorpio Monday, May 19, 7:11 pm PDT, 10:11 pm EDT The Scorpio Full Moon is filled with emotion that's sometimes violent or extreme. This time, however, its boiling intensity is cooled by an opposition to loving Venus and a square from spiritual Neptune. Romance, compassion and fantasy are more likely than fury, yet there is some danger of delusion or useless self-sacrifice. Fortunately, inventive Uranus makes a favorable trine to the Full Moon, showing a new way to merge that makes it possible to melt into others without losing yourself.
Sun in Gemini Tuesday, May 20, 9:01 am PDT, 12:01 pm EDT
The mutable air sign Gemini unwinds with adaptability and opens with curiosity after a month of earthy grounding in Taurus. Alternatives appear that multiply choices, sometimes making it difficult to know where to stand. That's because movement is the key to riding Gemini's wind. Absolute answers give way to questions and conjecture, feeding the soul with variety and filling the mind with data. Keep your options open as change conquers constancy.
Jupiter sextile Uranus Wednesday, May 21
This slow-moving aspect between the planets of higher mind and originality stimulates intuition and invites extraordinary levels of awareness. A unique gift of their infrequent alignment is discovering uncommon solutions to real world problems. This benefit is most readily gained by permitting your mind to head off into unfamiliar territory with faith that what you discover may be weird but useful.
Venus in Gemini Saturday, May 24, 3:52 pm PDT, 6:52 pm EDT
Sociable Venus becomes more curious and flirtatious in the butterfly sign Relationships need a refresh of new ideas and activities to keep love alive. Intellect is sexier with the romance planet in mentally strong Gemini. Tastes, though, can shift quickly as attraction and interest may not linger long in one place as desire tends to waver and wander.
Chiron Retrograde Sunday, May 25
The Wounded Healer's backward period lasts until October 24, reminding you to attend to your own vulnerabilities before trying to rescue others. There's no need to deny the hurt and disappointment you have encountered because these are not indelible scars. They are reminders of the fragility of being human and how important it is to be compassionate to yourself in spite of your imperfections.
Neptune Retrograde Monday, May 26
The five-month retrograde cycle of this spiritual planet turns dreams and ideals inward for private reflection and reassessment. Worldly goals may seem less important while you nurture your soul in the privacy of your own heart and mind. Some ambitions may prove to be fading fantasies, yet whatever remains will be enriched by realizing that your desires are connected to a collective wave of human need.
Mercury Retrograde Monday, May 26
Details, data, communication, travel and technology are more susceptible to error during the next three weeks. Piling on more information can easily lead to intellectual indigestion that leaves you feeling like you know even less than before. Slow down and double-check facts, speak in measured phrases and drive more carefully until the Messenger turns around and begins moving forward again on June 19.
_______________________________________________________________ The New Moon in Taurus is usually a time to be content by soaking in the sweetness of the senses. This one, however, is stressed by Pluto, plunging us into a reassessment of resources. Rapidly rising prices of food and fuel underscore the fear dark Pluto brings to cupboard filling Taurus. The message, then, is to let go of old notions of comfort and self-worth, clearing the way for a more substantial sense of self and purpose.
